The benefits of walking in the sands on the Forgotten Coast Beaches or any sandy beach:
Walking in the sand is a little more difficult than walking along a paved path which makes it a great small challenge for building muscle. Even though walking in the sand may be more strenuous for those leg muscles, because the scenery is so enjoyable many people tend to walk longer distances when they are walking on the beach especially if it is a quiet pristine beach like those on the Forgotten Coast.
- Specific health benefits of walking on the beach
- The challenge of walking in the sand forces muscles and tendons to work over twice as hard as compared to walking on a hard flat surface
- Walking along the beach and taking in all the beautiful sights and sounds has been shown to reduce stress and promote relaxation
- Walking in the sand burns significantly more calories as compared to walking on a paved trail
- Sand can help to exfoliate dead skin on the bottom of your feet as you walk barefoot
- The sunlight on the beach will help you get in a healthy dose of vitamin D
Many of the beaches on the Forgotten Coast are pet friendly allowing you to bring your furry family member and enjoy the adventure all the more
