Famous Third of July Tradition is Back in Apalachicola

The beloved fireworks show in Apalachicola held every year on the 3rd of July is back! The Independence Day Fireworks Celebration that his beloved by so many people around the Forgotten Coast of Florida and beyond will be taking place on July 3, 2021 from 6 to 10 PM in downtown Apalachicola at the Riverfront Park.

Apalachicola’s Independence Eve Fireworks Celebration has been a summer tradition on the Forgotten Coast for several years. Last year the celebration could not safely go on due to the global pandemic, but this year the festival is back in full force and many people around the Forgotten Coast are excited to bring back this beloved tradition. Every year the festivities are 100% financially supported by businesses, residents, and families from across the Forgotten Coast community in Florida. This festival has won the Florida Main Street Award for an outstanding special event. You will not want to miss it, this festival captures the essence of Apalachicola and the Forgotten Coast and it’s friendly and warm residents.

Every year, including this year, the Independence Eve Fireworks Celebration in Apalachicola includes live music, food trucks, a veterans tribute, and the biggest fireworks show in the area. It is one of the top 12 independence events in the entire state of Florida. The main street board chair Jim Bachrach says that although the event will be scaled back and some features might be a little different due to Covid precautions this will still be a great and fun event that many people will enjoy especially since we missed the event last year.

Admission to the Independence Eve Fireworks Celebration is free and it is suggested that you bring a lawn chair or picnic blanket to comfortably watch the fireworks at night from the park.

General overview of the evening’s schedule

Music and food in the park 6 to 10 PM with a food truck food court. Live music will include the Apalachicola Blues Authority featuring Bernard Simmons

The red white and blue parade 6:30 PM. Parade participants should plan to meet at Lafayette Park at 6:30 to decorate your golf cart or bike and be part of the parade that travels down Avenue B to Riverfront Park on Water Street

Veterans tribute 8:30 PM. This will be a time of honoring our local military veterans and giving them the thanks and respect they are due

Fireworks 9 PM. The big grand finale of the evening will take place over the river at 9 PM there is reserved seating available
