Looking for nature lover’s paradise along Florida’s Gulf Coast? Apalachicola is a small community along the Apalachicola Bay but the boundary actually extends up towards the unincorporated area of Franklin and includes the Apalachicola Regional Airport. There are a lot of lots and parcels of land perfect for building along the Apalachicola River starting at about $50,000.
Some of the newer construction is located along Bay City Road which is just off of Bluff Road running north and south from downtown to Highway 98. A little further north is a few Riverfront Plantation Estates priced from $400,000 on up. 1 acre lots are about $175,000 if you’re looking for properties right on the river. This makes an excellent choice for those that love fishing and boating and many of the lots border canals and boat launches for the community. Homes built in this area will feature excellent river views and a private riverfront location, with easy access to the Intercoastal waterway.
This historic city in Franklin County is nestled on the shores of Apalachicola Bay and is home to about 23,000 residents. It’s currently the county seat of Franklin and the name comes from the Apalachicola tribe, which is a combination of words meaning “on the other side” and “People”. This historic area got its start back in 1513 when it was under Spanish jurisdiction until 1763. It has slowly grown over the years being a part of Florida’s history settled by Greek immigrants, physicians, and ministers. It’s currently home to the Dixie Theater, a professional equity theater producing and presenting live performances each year. This theater was originally built in 1912 and was fully renovated in 1996.
This area is part of the Franklin County school district, which provides several local schools as well as a charter school.
